Local Grocery Outlet fills pantries for Habitat for Humanity’s deserving families. (PDF)

Grocery Outlet has been a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake over the years. They have done everything from raise funds at the cash
registers, to stocking the shelves, refrigerators, and pantries of the deserving families that have helped build their own homes. Grocery Outlet even makes up
gift baskets to be auctioned off at the Festival of Trees fundraiser that is held every year. [

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake and new homeowner Melissa hosted a thank you barbeque to show their appreciation to all of those who worked on and
supported the construction of the ninth hom that was built. The well-attended event was held at the Columbia Basin Job Corps carpentry building with the Job
Corps culinary students doing the cooking. During the picnic Melissa thanked everyone again for their hard work to finish her home and how thankful she was to
have a home of her own for her and her family. Dave Hunt of Casa Bella homes was also honored at the picnic by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake with
a Golden Hammer Award. [

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake honored a couple of Moses Lake people for their outstanding service
and support of habitat. The award is called the Golden Hammer Award and it was presented to Terry Weimer and
Washington Trust Bank. [

Sunday was another beautiful day in Moses Lake but for one person and her family, it was an especially great
day. Sunday was the day that Melissa finally got the keys to her brand new home that she helped build with her
own sweat equity, the help of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake, as well as many members of the
community. Melissa and her family were the ninth family to be selected for a new home in Moses Lake and has
a tenth family already lined up to help build the next Habitat home. After the completion of the home and the
keys are given to the new family in the dedication cememony, the new homeowners are able to purchase the
home with a no-profit and no-interest mortgage. [

A house sometimes consists of more than walls, windows, doors, and a roof. Sometimes it is a new beginning
and life for a family. For one of the families that the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moses Lake has helped
get into a house, they said that it was like winning at bingo. The family says that "It is still hard to believe that
we have become home owners and been able to accomplish so much. We have a larger home for less monthly
payments & live in a safe neighborhood." [
